We’re just dipping back into the busy days of work, school for the kids, football, etc. It’s becoming harder and harder to find a night when all four of us are home for dinner. This week, Tuesday was the one night when nobody had to work, football ended at a reasonable time, and we could all sit down together.
When I was growing up, my mom held on to that custom for as long as she could. It’s one that we’ve clung to, as well. I’ve always believed in the importance of taking some time at the end of the day to sit down and talk. While the conversations might not always be memorable, the take-away of time together is priceless.
This year, as in the past couple of years, I’m participating in Susannah Conway’s “The August Break.” It’s an opportunity to just be present, look around your world, take photos, and post them to your blog. There are no rules, other than to use this as an opportunity to recharge your batteries a bit.
If you’d like to participate, join in…there are some amazing friends out here, just waiting to meet you.
